H.I.S. · Hiroshima Station

Hiroshima and Miyajima with lunch

H.I.S. runs one coach day from Hiroshima Station and feeds into it travellers from Osaka, Kyoto and Fukuoka, who arrive on bullet train tickets handed to them at the station. Pick it for the most complete package on this site: museum, shrine, ferry and a Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki lunch, all paid.

Hiroshima and Miyajima Bus Day, from Osaka or Hiroshima

About this experience

The listing has eight options: four starting cities (Hiroshima, Osaka, Kyoto, Fukuoka), each in English or with a multilingual audio guide. The $116 from-price is the From Hiroshima option, with no shinkansen: you join the coach at Hiroshima Station. Choose Osaka, Kyoto or Fukuoka and H.I.S. adds round-trip bullet train tickets, which pushes the price way up; the Osaka plan was about $283 on partner listings in October 2026. That's still well under the JTB bullet train tour at $387, and lunch is included here.

From Osaka, staff meet you at Shin-Osaka with your tickets and walk you to the right car. The day runs about 12 hours on paper and 13 to 14 by guests' count. In Hiroshima everyone boards one coach. Mornings go to the A-Bomb Dome, the Peace Park and the Peace Memorial Museum. Lunch is okonomiyaki at a restaurant looking across to Miyajima, cooked on the griddle in front of you, with a no-pork version and a no-pork, no-egg, no-fish-powder version if you ask when you book. Then the ferry, Itsukushima Shrine and time on Omotesando before the coach heads back to the station.

The catches. Guests most often say the museum got about 30 minutes, which isn't enough. Groups are big: one guide looked after 38 people from seven countries. The multilingual audio guide works on the bus only (bring your own phone and earphones), so at the sites you follow the English guide. And the earphone receivers handed out for the walking parts cost up to 18,000 yen to replace if you lose or break one.

What guests say

★★★★★

A representative met us at Shin-Osaka Station with our Shinkansen tickets and personally made sure we reached the correct platform and train car. Considering how large and potentially confusing Japanese train stations can be, having someone take care of those details made the start of the day completely stress-free.

Although this is a long day, it is well worth it. Our guide Tokane (Kane) was very engaging and informative and provided us with many details even when on the transfers between sites. [...] the lunch of traditional Okonomiyaki was outstanding.

Long day but it was worth it to see all that we got to see. Nice mix of tours with a guide who was knowledgeable on all the history, along with time to explore on our own during which we were able to pick up souvenirs and try some local foods.

Tips before you book

  • Order the right lunch when you book. Menu changes on the day aren't possible, and the regular okonomiyaki contains pork, egg and fish powder.
  • Book a weekday. A guest who went on a long weekend called the day chaotic.
  • Read up on the bomb and the city on the train. With about 30 minutes in the museum, knowing the story beforehand helps a lot.
  • On a multilingual plan, bring your phone, earphones and a charged battery. Guests mention USB ports and Wi-Fi on the coach.
  • Can't see the staff at Shin-Osaka? Walk up and down the gate area. One guest only found the group that way.
